We've all been there. Surfing the web, reading a forum post, or in the comments section and see "that channel". The "Hey guys, I'm new to youtube plz plz plz sub", or the "Sub if you like bacon" stuff. Now, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with promoting your channel, but begging and being desperate isn't one. It has the opposite effect, it makes people actually hate your channel. That's why today Amora Youtube Marketing is bringing you 5 Tips to properly advertise your channel.
1. Don't Beg

Imagine being on a forum site, clicking a catchy header only to reveal it's a youtuber begging for a sub. You're annoyed right? So why should you do it? Begging for subscribers in any form (forums, comment sections, etc.) is never a good idea. It only makes people hate your channel. It's looked down on by the community, and it can even make the channel you are commenting on block you. Despite what you see on the image to the left, you will not get any results. Comments like these buy likes to push their comment up. Unless you plan to fork out some cash, you can only expect dislikes and reports.
2. Connect, don't advertise
Nobody likes ads, especially those 15 second no skips. So, to promote your content, you shouldn't advertise, but connect to people. For example, instead of leaving a comment like "Hey please check out my channel" on a vlogging channel, leave a comment saying, "Wow! The quality on this video is insane. What camera do you use? I use my iPhone camera, and it never looks this good". Notice how you are actively engaging the community with this question, while still letting everyone else know that you own a channel (indirectly). That's the true key to promotion, subtly letting everyone else know you promote content.
3. Target the right audience
I've seen countless times where people will post an ad for a gaming channel on a completely different subreddit or comment section. Before you even start writing the perfect comment, make sure you are commenting on the right platform. If you are a gaming channel, don't just go to a general gaming forum to advertise, go deeper. What games do you play? Overwatch? Minecraft? Then go to those forums and channels specifically.
4. Reply and like the average comment
When your promoting on another channel, a lot of the average comments you see are open gateways to new subscribers. Go to any video, and look at the majority of comments. Most are just a channel with no subs, random profile pic, leaving a generic comment like "LOL". These are your targets. Why? Because you know they are an active subscriber. Leave an even more generic reply like "Ikr? He's so funny" and drop a like. The beauty of this is that comments like these are so vast in any comment section that you can do this so many times.
5. Keep going
A sculpture is made by tiny hits on a large rock. You aren't going to see immediate, super fast results. Just keep commenting and posting correctly, and eventually you will create a digital presence.
